Previously, Akshay Kumar had expressed his disappointment when people questioned his dedication to the nation.
“India is everything to me… Whatever he has earned, whatever he has achieved is from here. And he’s fortunate to have the opportunity to give back. It’s disheartening when people make assumptions without proper knowledge,” Mr. Kumar had said during an interview with the news channel Aajtak.
His application for Indian citizenship was submitted in 2019; however, the process experienced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The issue of Mr. Kumar’s Canadian citizenship became a subject of discussion following an interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had commented, “I never thought that I should get my passport changed, but now, yes, I have applied to update my passport, and once he receives the renounced status from Canada…”
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar’s film “OMG” 2, which also features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, was released in theaters last week.
